I Foresee Brighter Prospects in Asumadu & Ndukwe led Administration

The prospects of Asumadu and Wisdom Ndukwe led administration has been the one that many students anticipate. However long it takes, the mandate has been been given to them.

Upon resumption to office, we have seen their Swift intervention in organising a meeting with the sellers at the Lecturers and staff markets ( Night Market) discussing the recent hikes in commodity prices. The recent increase in consumables and foodstuff is alarming, unwarranted and worrying. We cannot fathom why every blessed day's provisions prices are inflating. Extorsions at diaspora halls are uncalled for and not guaranteed. We are keenly aware of their intervention, and hoping that the Asumadu- Ndukwe led governance would expedite the unfailing effort to deal with such menace confronting us.

Indeed, governance is continuous we have seen that the duo has taken the trend of mobilising students for a seminar. This has been a programme that virtually every administration embarks on to sensitize students on matters of concern. I don't want to believe if that is a budget target expedition to meet their budget expectations by soliciting sponsorship for such programmes.

In the week, we have witnessed several reshufflings just a few weeks since the whistleblower 360 published the news item about the humble appeal to the USRC President to embark on the reshuffling of Committee heads.

Notwithstanding the appointments, I would like to bring to their attention for them to take notice that there are no committees available; be they a standing or Adhoc committees. No single individual had been appointed as a committee member. I believe that should be done following the appointments of deputy committee heads. The leadership of the UGSRC should also take notice of the appointment being a virtually one-sided appointment.

Per the timeframe, it would be extremely difficult for this administration to meet its demands and expectations since the first semester is at its apogee. Many level three hundred students are expressing their interest to run for the position of the SRC, while JCR elections and departmental elections are currently ongoing. They have one semester more to go.

Despite the frustrations and anxiety characterised by the elections and swearing-in, there is hope for students.

We wouldn't want to demand more from them. What we expect is that they should fulfil their promises and account for their stewardship at the end of their tenure. Responsibility and accountability are what we shall demand at the end of their tenure.

A blend of leadership should come with unique ideas and opportunities. If they should fail it would serve as a bad precedent and an adventure that no student will be willing to embark on. That precedent will be an unprofitable and unlucrative venture for students to follow.

One most welcoming idea that I support and would embark on in the future is the "SRC Digital Communication Module" dubbed " The SRC This Week" aimed at bringing the accountability gap between the SRC and the student; as well as bringing the SRC to the doorsteps of the students.

If the promises are fulfilled, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

You are one of the few Chief Executive Officers who understands the importance of deployment of the youth in public service, that is in line with the core vision of John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress. I urge you to consider most of our grassroots who are frustrated and stranded as a result of consequential unemployment issu...

67 Years Of Independence: The State Of Ghana's Economy

It is quite imperative to note that after 67 years of independence from the shackles of colonial rule, the state of Ghana's economy has been tattered beyond repair.  Seven at the International Monetary Fund for financial stability and the World Bank for budget support. One may question the country's membership to the IMF and the WB so entitled to the loans, grants, and aid from the Bretton Woods Institution. The issue about that is the indiscriminate application from the Fund and the Bank since the attainment of independence and statehood. Most of the time our request for funds comes when all financial and fiscal indications show that we do not qualify for the fund. The Fund in turn imposes certain stringent measures to be complied with about fiscal policies, and taxation for us to meet the requirement and qualify for the funds. We are very much aware of the issues of GETFUND, ESLA, and E-LEVY as collateral to meet the financial obligation, not forgetting the controversial Deb...
