ALLEGED MANIPULATIONS OF THE SYSTEM BY UGCS IN TODAYS' UGSRC ELECTIONS

Information reaching us is an attempt by the  University of Ghana Computing System (UGCS)  to manipulate the system to favour specific candidates and factions in today’s UGSRC Elections. “In every rumour there is a little bit of truth”, An anonymous student of the Premier University had told Walkingencyclopaedia360. We believe it will continue to be speculations and an unfounded allegation. The EC had proposed for an Online voting system for Level 100’s and 400’s and an onsite face-to-face voting for Level 200’s and 300’s for today’s UGSRC Elections. The Electoral Commission of UGSRC had proposed for 2 phases and had tabled before the Executive Committee of UGSRC for further debates, deliberation and balloting which had successfully been done. The EXCOM had favour the UGCS against the open of tender to private Information Technology systems.

The students body had all endorsed you for your track record in previous UGSRC Elections. We have believed in the efficient delivery in ensuring fairness and  transparency in elections and its related activities. You were nearly dejected from conducting this years UGSRC Elections as a result of lapses or loopholes your system. All the stakeholders have accepted in good faith for you to conduct the Elections. Most of the candidates advocated for you to conduct today’s elections, this should inform you the confidence the general students body has reposed in you that you are on top of the game and you could conduct the elections in all fairness  and transparency it deserves.

On no account should an autonomous institution like UGCS should attempt to manipulate the system in favour of specific Candidates in today’s elections. You should for today the UGCS be an extension of the Electoral Commission who has the mandate in conducting UGSRC Elections. The students anticipates  that you should share in the vision of the Commission in ensuring transparency and fairness in the elections. You should not allowed your outfit to be used as a conduit of manipulation to rig today’s election against the serving candidates.

The Electoral Commission's  aim at ensuring transparency should not be a nine days wonder. The Electoral Commission should not seduce UGCS to manipulate the system in favour of any candidate. Today’s election is a an experiment and a test case for the EC.  And this would serve as an index to measure the impartiality and independence of the Commission in organizing future UGSRC Elections.  As a Commission you should subject yourself to the constitution of the SRC, and the regulations governing the elections pertaining to C.I 21.

The students would not accept the results of a fraudulent elections. And would be redressing the matter at the UGSRC Judicial Body, and an external court if any malpractices take place. This would stall the administration of the school, and would not augment academic and co-curricular activities on the main and various campuses across the university. We shall not countenance any act of malpractice in today’s elections.

Walkingencyclopaedia360 wish you all the candidates all the best of luck.

AN OPEN LETTER TO KOKU ANYIDOHO

Good-day! Anyidoho, Koku I communicate to you to halt your open and bitter resentment towards the gentle and affable persona and former first gentleman of the land, John Dramani Mahama. You claim to be an ardent and proponent of social democracy and associate of tge left-wing reactionary socialist ideology. We admonished your selfless service to the office of the former President, the late H.E John Evans Atta Mills as the Director of Communications, and your subsequent election as the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress. This could have prefrerably shaped you and made you the General Secretary of the NDC. You fought well in the contest between you and the National Chairman of the party. The previous elections would have forsaw your leadership as General Secretary. You remember when the NPP, through their surrogates arrested you and put in the CID cells. He was the one who came and granted you bail and walked with you as triumph victory over them; your pur...

The 24 Hour Economy Proposed by Mahama; NPP's Headache

The much talk-about proposed policy initiative, the 24 hour economy is the order of the day, and it looks as if is a headache for the rulling New Patriotic party and governemnt. The rank and file of the party wakes up every blessed day to propagate about the policy. The Presidential Candidate and Flagbearer who happens to be the Second Gentleman, H.E Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia of this country has been in oppostion to this initiative. Ministers of State, Members of Parliament for the rulling NPP, Ambassadors, High Commissioners had also spoken in negation to the 24 hour Ecomomy. Scores of party executives and members of the rulling party and government had portrayed same with the fear of losing to the opposition National Democratic Congress, the NDC. With few of thier Members, particularly, Honourable Ekow Asafua admitting that if the NDC is able to communicate the policy well to Ghanaians they will purchase or buy into that idea. The 24 Hour Economy, if implemented, when the the NDC ass...

Fights Over UGSRC Appointment By Political God-Fathers Unnecessary

The current fights in the UGSRC appointment are unwarranted and of no merit as p,olitical God-Fathers in TESCON tzurn to backbite one another and lobby for the positions for their young boys. It has been made known that an immediate past TESCON President and once SRC President are at loggerheads as to who gets what. The Vice president of the UGSRC is seen more often than the UGSRC President on Campus. Students argued that the Vice President deferred his course twice to become the SRC president and had been a resident student of Vandal and Viking. It is rather unfortunate that the SRC could not plead with management to tamper justice with mercy or rescind their decision on CommonWealth and Mensah Sarbah brouhaha with management. The President is a Medical student and does not have ample time to steer affairs and his college they believe is far distant from the center of administration. The major concern raised by students is how appointing students to serve on various committees has bee...
