JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA HAD RETORTED

President John Dramani Mahama had made a proclamation on his intention to be a party agent at his polling station in the forthcoming 2024 general elections, which comes after his recent pronouncement. He made this profound statement to buttress his stance on his recent pronouncement that, the 2024 general elections are going to be ‘Do or die'. He had declared his stance that this does not translate into ‘All die be die', as the incumbent president, President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo,  made us believe in the run-up to the 2016 general elections. The rank and file of his party and scores of Ghanaians had commended him for affirming his stance and taking steps to prevent possible rig of the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He had condemned what he for seen as bias on the part of the Supreme Court in manipulating the ruling of the 2020 petition he filed against the Electoral Commission. He had assured that he would not resort to the court for redress as he is not confident in the independence of the Supreme Court. However, he would prefer to be vigilant and ensure that there are free, fair, and transparent elections. He had also cautioned and charged the Electoral Commission to use the 2024 general elections to cleanse itself from the irregularities and malpractices it indulged in.

On the contrary, the leadership and membership of the New Patriotic Party had refuted the claims made by the former president that, they were not expecting such remarks from him. The New Patriotic Party had forgotten so soon comments from the then flag bearer, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, on his populist ‘All die die' remarks. The clandestine move by them defending the ‘ All die be died' and condemning ‘Do or die' raises questions of concerns for the public to judge. The public now doubts the genuine intentions of the NPP for such defense. ‘What is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. Let’s assume what President Mahama retorted is similar to what President Akufo Addo had said. What then is the cause for alarm? Why should Ghanaians be alert on that? Is the same person who had talked about ‘boot for boot', without causing any harm to anybody or damage to property. Is that not a yardstick we could measure the former to the latter?

The clarion call by Mr. Mahama for vigilance should not be the weapon for people to preach doom for the country. He had contested the position three consecutive times. Under his watch, not even a single drop of blood had fallen. We all witnessed the violence that characterized the registration of voters and the casting of ballots. Numerous such cases were recorded. The one which is fresh in our memory is the infamous Techiman South shootings. This juxtaposes the violent nature of the power-drunk, New Patriotic Party, and its apparatchiks. Bandwagons who perpetrated violence aim at satisfying their parochial interest.

I would like to entreat Former Ministers of State, Former High Commissioners, and Ambassadors, Former Metropolitan, Municipal, District Chief Executives, Former and Current Members of Parliament, Members of the Council of State, Members of the National Council, Members of the Executive Council, National, Regional, District, Constituency and Branch Executives of the National Democratic Congress to rally behind his Excellency, John Dramani Mahama by endeavoring to be polling station agents for the 2024 Parliamentary and Presidential elections. We the members of the party would also complement their efforts by serving as watchdogs to avoiding possible rigging, interference, and manipulation of the electoral officers and processes.

I have recalled the good young days of ‘No contribution no chop'. The same would be applied to the 2024 general elections. I have adopted my polling station. I have declared publicly to be an agent for John Dramani Mahama. I recommend that tertiary students should be considered as party agents, especially those with an in-depth knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics should be prioritized as polling agents.

_Press Release_ _*Educate Africa Institute; EAI*_ 10th October, 2022. *The NCA must take proactive measures because some media outlets continue to air unethical and unlawful programs on their shows. - S.K OFORI; EAI Political Analyst* The eleven-year-old boy's death in Kasoa, where his pals planned to sacrifice him for money rituals, was the catalyst for the national media commission's and national communication authority decision to sanitize the media community, which took place just one and a half years earlier. The NCA's decision to revoke the licenses of media outlets transmitting unethical programs was praised by many. It seems, however, that the NCA took such steps in response to the death of the eleven-year-old child who was murdered by his peers under the influence of a mallam. The media outlets whose licenses were eventually restored after negotiations with the national communications authority. After the NCA restoring the license of the affected media outlets, so...
